South Mountain Snobs Say no to DI?

Draper says no to a downtown DI

First of all let me make a special note here that my wife was born in raised in the once great area called Draper.

Well it looks like the snobs on South Mountain that now control the Draper City Council feel that a DI store is too beneath them to have in their fair city.

One of the issues they complained about was traffic. Talk about double talk, where they worried about traffic when they sold themselves for the idea of having IKEA in the city? Where they worried about traffic when they allowed development of South Mountain? Where they worried about traffic when they approved Draper Peaks? Of course it may cause some traffic issues but no more than any of these other stores.

There was some on the city council that actually showed some gumption and said that this will cause Draper to be viewed as a snobbish town. Of course it is and it should be. There is now two Drapers but most of the representation is from New Draper and that is Snob Mountain. While there is good people that live on South Mountain, the vocal people who think they are too good to have a DI store in there neck of the woods.

I have to agree with one letter writer that said if Draper is too good for DI, then they are too good for a Temple and that should be located elsewhere.

I have been in towns when IKEA opens it's doors. Be ready because it is a Cluster F**K with traffic and parking. The last one was down by Dallas in a little town just North, there was a two hour wait to get into the parking lot. The city had to use Police officers to direct traffic and use empty fields/lots for extra parking. They also provided a free shuttle service to get people from the lots to the store and back. Be ready Draper.
