The Lunacy of Eagle Mountain...

Eagle Mtn. works on city image

In an effort to change Eagle Mountain's public image, council members are being asked not to commit any crimes.

Do I even bother making a comment about the above statement? I guess it speaks for itself.

What About our Own Problems?

The Gangsters of Drew Street, Glassell Park

This is an article about the Glassell Park area of Los Angeles. Previously I linked to an article talking about other communities in Los Angeles. We are now seeing some of the problems cited in this article here in Salt Lake City.

The last thing we need is for the Salt Lake area to become like Glassell Park or Chudy or any of the other communities in Southern California that have become war zones.

While we worry about terrorist coming over from overseas, we have a problem that has to potential to take many more lives and it is right here.

Two Shooters Caught

Two arrested in connection with dollar store slaying

I am glad to see that these two have been caught. To gun down a man in cold blood like these two are accused of doing is beyond imagination. However, it is a sign of the troubling times that we are facing.

Dell Schanze running for Governor????

Utah State Capitol

So what kind of publicity stunt is this? That's right "Super" Dell Schanze is apparently going to run for governor.

Can you imagine then annoying commercials that he is going to run? The commercials from his failed business were bad enough but I can just picture what he will do in a political ad.

Oh, and just imagine what he will say when he looses. He will blame the news media for being instruments of Satan, that Satan is trying to keep him from getting elected, and ....

It was bad enough when his business went under. I do not like to see small independent business go under but instead of being a adult and taking the blame for the bad decisions he made, he blames Satan and the news media.

Sorry Dell I hate to tell you but here is a small list of problems you had:
1. Too fast of an expansion
2. Too much expansion when your products catered to a limited market share
3. Commercials that turned off potential customers
4. Poor web presence

and that is just a few of them.

You are not Governor material, but how about the state legislature, after all, you will fit right in with the those clowns...

Governor's Race

Well the Republicans have found their sacrificial lamb to go to slaughter against Matheson in the second congressional district and now the Democrats have theirs to go slaughter and run against Huntsman for Governor.

It sounds as though Bob Springmeyer has already decided his going to loose from the the attitude as his news conference and quoted from the Deseret News:

"I probably would have more luck in winning the lottery" than this race, said a realistic Springmeyer. He ticked off Huntsman's advantages: "He is very popular. He's handsome. He can raise a lot of money. He has a billionaire daddy. And his wife (first lady Mary Kaye) is drop-dead gorgeous." Utah has not elected a Democratic governor since 1980.

The only thing that Springmeyer forgot that is Huntsman’s grown daughter who is also attractive.

The only thing I can see that could get into Huntsman’s way is the extremist from his own party.

I have to admit that I was wondering about Huntsman when he first took office. I thought that he was just going to be another rich guy political hack like his predecessor Mike Levitt but Huntsman has done pretty well except he was dead wrong when it came to funding the soccer stadium.

Heck, any governor of this state who has to deal with the state legislature every year and doesn’t go postal on those circus clowns deserves an Atta boy.

Overall, Springmeyer would have to do much better to sway my vote. Even though Huntsman spells his first name wrong (yes, that is a joke), I think unless something major happens I will be voting for him in the election.

Wal-Mart and Libertarians...

Le Wal-Mart de la rue Karl-Marx.

A few months ago I saw a review on epinions from a libertarian praising the virtues of how wonderful Wal-Mart is to shop in and that brought up a question to me.

Since the libertarians are supposed to be so free market and anti-government, is it hypocritical for them to be supporting a company that has been the recipient of more than a billion dollars of corporate welfare that can be traced and who knows how much that cannot be traced?

That doesn’t even count all the hidden subsidies like the new I-15 interchange for Springville that it would take decades for the sales tax revenue to compensate for?

When is the last time a small retailer such as the hundreds of small businesses that fight to survive and received no subsidies like that? Shouldn’t the libertarians be supporting stores such as this who do truly represent a market base economy compared to those who get corporate welfare?

Talk about a guy who should not be driving...

Inattentive driver hits cars at police station, flees

This could have the making of a great comedy...

A backing out of the Public Safety building is too busy talking on his cell phone and hits two parked cars including a police cruiser. Then he takes off but is later pulled over and claims it was his brakes fault so the police impound his vehicle for faulty equipment.

This whole thing brings up a question, what was this guy doing at the public safety building in the first place?

Merrill Cook is Running again...

Well if you hear about someone being washed up with concrete galoshes, you will know it was because I talked too much about old Merrill.

For those of you who did not hear the Doug Wright show today, he got a phone call that said he better watch out what he says about Cook otherwise he might upset some of Utah's most powerful families. Doug proceeded to do a Godfather theme throughout the hour.

Despite that I may upset those powerful families, I too am going to comment on Merrill Cook running...
...
...
...
...
...

...
...
Sorry, I fell on the floor laughing.

The only chance that Cook would have in this election is if all the democrats decided to stay home because they figured that Jim Matheson was a shoe in. Maybe that is what Cook hopes will happen, that he is such a joke of a candidate that the other side will not show up.

Lets look at what Cook is against:
-Would the Republicans even want him to run?
-When he was in office he was more wishy washy than...

Oh well, at least Cook will provide some comic moments which doesn't say much about Cook himself.

Good Job Prince Harry and Boo to Matt Drudge

I never really follow what is happening with the Royal family across the pond like some, but then again I am one of those weird people who could care less about Brittany, Jessica and anyone else like that. I have better things to do.

However, what happened has got my blood boiling.

We all know the controversy about Prince Harry serving in Iraq, while now it turns out that he has been serving for the last 10 weeks in Afghanistan. You just have give the man credit, even though he is a member of the royal family and could get out of it, he still wanted to serve his country and his fellow members of the military.

In our country it is common practice for the rich to get out of serving or serving in some easy assignment because they think they are too good to serve. While I am supporter of McCain, at least he served his country which can be said for some other important politicians.

So we have Prince Harry serving his country in a war zone and not trying to get out of it...way to go Harry.

What is really amazing is that the press in Britain actually kept it quite for these 10 weeks, even the Sun which is their version of the National Enquirer. But then comes along Matt Drudge of the Drudge report who has to blast it all over the internet were Prince Harry is.

It is too bad that Matt Drudge and the people like him do not have the decency that the British press showed, all he cared about was the publicity it would get him by breaking the story. So a big boo to the likes of Drudge.

It is too bad there is not more like Prince Harry and fewer like Drudge in this world.

Interesting Facts about the Human Body...

Once again, I am going to lighten up the mood a little.

One of the blogs that I look at frequently since it often has good information is the Bootstrapper Blog. Usually they have a list of links on their site many of them that are for the help of small business owners.

What caught my attention today was their posting of 100 weird things about the human body.

For example:

-80% of the brain is water (won't even go there when it comes to the legislature).

-Blondes have more hair

-The human heart creates enough pressure to squirt blood 30 feet

-Coughs Clock in at 60mph

-Most men have erections every hour to hour and a half during sleep

There is many others so go over and take a look.

State Legislative Session

Capital of Utah - 1961
Originally uploaded by avaloncm
It has been an interesting year for our state legislature. While we still have some more time to go, here are some of the things that have taken place on the hill this year…

-Senator Buttars once again foamed at the mouth.

-Once again we saw the Legislature take more power away from the Governor in order to gain more power for itself.

-Once again we see the state taking local governments rights away and giving them to the all powerful legislature.

-Once again we see the legislature trying to raid the funds approved by local voters because the state legislature wants to spend the money their way not the way the voters approved.

-We saw the state legislature take away the rights of citizens to vote in order to give more power to the all ready too powerful developers.

-We saw that a lobbyist for a major corporation threaten the state and the state legislature kissing his feet to do what he wanted.

-Once again they are attempting to be the anti-Robin Hoods and take away from the poor and give to the rich.

-We saw the previously mentioned Buttars tell his fellow members not to vote for a bill he presented because he didn’t understand what it would do????

-The state passed one useless bill to stop gang problems and passed a second that takes away rights under the guise that it will stop gangs.

-Passed a watered down anti-bullying bill that didn’t address cyber-bullying.

-Allowed Gayle Ruzicka and LeVar Christensen to testify to a bill but failed to allow any of the opposition to testify thus limiting the rights except to certain individuals.

The best part about it, they are not done yet!!!

Oh what clowns we have in our state circus.

Ok, after all the serious discussions lately especially with the clowns in our state government making the wrong kind of publicity for us, I decided we needed to have a little relaxation today. I found this video over at Youtube and it is based on Kokomo by the Beach Boys except is all about Utah.

Hope you enjoy this brief break from the circus…

Chris Buttars again...

Buttars blasts his own bill on police records

This guy just never quits does he?

Isn't there something wrong when a State Senator has to get up and tell his colleagues not to vote for a bill that he supposedly wrote because suddenly he realizes that it does not do what he thinks it does?

How many people are scratching their heads over this one?

Did he actually write the bill or was only only doing the deed for one of the his special interest groups? Clearly he should have known exactly what the bill was going to do before he ever presented it. This incident is just another reason why the guy needs to leave office.

Maybe someone should suggest to Hollywood, who cannot come up with a creative idea to save their lives to make a remake of All in the Family because we have the perfect person to play Archie Bunker.

Response to Comments on my James Evans Post

redneck
Originally uploaded by adiffererntryan
OK, I must have riled up some folks with my last post about Evans and Buttars. When I first read the comments I thought about the type of person who would write it and the attached picture came to mind in others words RED NECK.

Since I have had a really long week and feel like having some fun, I am going to break down this comment and have some fun with it.

Here is Mr. Anon's first comment:
hey there you free speech phony, yeah right…YOU!!!and pull your pants up!!

Apparently this person is great at judging people he has never met. I guess he is inferring that I am one of those people who has to wear his pants half way down his legs. I hate to tell you this, but I am not one of those people. Now that I am loosing weight I will admit and proud to say my pants are getting a little baggy but that is all. What kind of person would make that kind of judgment call? Oh wait look at the picture.

Also I am surprised you are not using all caps and screaming at me. In fact you are using all lower case letters. I am not going to judge here but some people may say from your writing you are compensating for something.

you are a hypocrite liar who publicly preaches free speech (except when it is something with which you disagree)but who really hates open discourse.

I don't even know were to start with this one. Oh wait, are you saying that because I think that Buttars should be thrown out of office I am against free speech? Sorry but when someone is a major embarrassment not only to his district but the entire state he needs to be sent to retirement. Finally, I am not the one leaving a nasty email criticizing someone else's opinion so it appears to be you who does not like free speech.

let’s see how stupid you people really are: (rules of the truly stupid souless morons):

So anyone who opposes your ideas are souless morons, now that almost sounds like something that would come out of, oh thats right Gale what's here name or the hate group bapist church in Kansas. But appears from your talk you are the hate monger.

1. anyone who might say, “hey, you have a black mark on your {record}{shirt} {soul}” is a racist devil to be destroyed.
If i say “that black mark on your record is one ugly baby” I should have my gonads removed by a team of man hating lesbian trasgendered half elf midgets with a speech impediment.

Lets compare what Buttars said "this baby is black" compared to your remarks about this being a black mark is one ugly baby. The context of the words are different. It is clear you are talking about a bad mark on the other hand with Buttars statement you what is he talking about? Almost sounds like he had a Freudian slip.

Pay attention to which media outlets are pumping up this story. These are the enemies of free speech.

Lets see, since all the Utah papers are talking about it, are you saying that the Deseret News is an enemy of free speech? Since conservative talk show host Doug Wright is talking about it, he is an enemy of free speech?

2. Only black people can use the word “lynched”, even if they live in Lynchberg, Tenn. or Lynchberg, Va. And they should be fired if they aren’t black. All whites who are named Lynch must be sent to a concentration camp run by …. you get the idea.

Wow, you are bring up stuff I never even talked about. But then again you really act like you have some bent up anger in there. Maybe you should see a good psychiatrist before you go off and let it go too far. By the way what does the name Lynch have anything to do with the word lynched? Oh wait its that anger thing right?

3. If i say “white lie” I am a racist who must be destroyed, unless I am a homo, woman, oriental, indio, or….anything besides a white male.

I thought Indio was a town near Palm Springs? What does that have to do with your arguments? Clearly your anger is showing again. Maybe take a pills to calm your nerves, your going to have a heart attack.

This reminds me of the lynching of Don Imus. And that was concocted to discipline the talk show host roster to not speak ill of Hillary.

Oh so lets bring Don Imus into the picture. Clearly you are so busy being angry, that you cannot take the time to read all of my entries, otherwise you would clearly seen that I backed Imus. This despite the fact I don't like the guy or his show. First of all his attackers are a bunch of hypocrites because they turn their backs on other things going on.

Second there is a big difference between Imus and Buttars. Imus is a shock jock and entertainment. If you do not like what he says you can turn him off. However Buttars is a representative of the people not only of his district but of the entire state. His conduct reflects on the entire state therefore he needs to go away.

Finally I highly suggest some anger management classes. Beyond that I would highly recommend that you do not make blatant judgments on people you have never met and have no idea who they truly are. After all, I am not a public figure, so you really have no idea who I am except for my blog.

Anyway, take care and remember to watch that blood pressure.

James Evans Defends Buttars...

Chris Buttars, Professional Grump
Originally uploaded by Stewf

Isn't it interesting that Evans should take this stance in regards to fellow Republican Buttars when you consider how he attack some comments by Rocky Anderson last year?

Doesn't this smell of hypocrisy?

Sure he is allowed to have his opinions, but when on one had he attacks one person for statements made that were more limited than Buttars but then stands behind Buttars after his stupid statement number? It is clear it all has to do with politics and not what is right.

Maybe Evans should be gone with Buttars?
