The Lunacy of Eagle Mountain...

Eagle Mtn. works on city image

In an effort to change Eagle Mountain's public image, council members are being asked not to commit any crimes.

Do I even bother making a comment about the above statement? I guess it speaks for itself.

What About our Own Problems?

The Gangsters of Drew Street, Glassell Park

This is an article about the Glassell Park area of Los Angeles. Previously I linked to an article talking about other communities in Los Angeles. We are now seeing some of the problems cited in this article here in Salt Lake City.

The last thing we need is for the Salt Lake area to become like Glassell Park or Chudy or any of the other communities in Southern California that have become war zones.

While we worry about terrorist coming over from overseas, we have a problem that has to potential to take many more lives and it is right here.

Two Shooters Caught

Two arrested in connection with dollar store slaying

I am glad to see that these two have been caught. To gun down a man in cold blood like these two are accused of doing is beyond imagination. However, it is a sign of the troubling times that we are facing.

Dell Schanze running for Governor????

Utah State Capitol

So what kind of publicity stunt is this? That's right "Super" Dell Schanze is apparently going to run for governor.

Can you imagine then annoying commercials that he is going to run? The commercials from his failed business were bad enough but I can just picture what he will do in a political ad.

Oh, and just imagine what he will say when he looses. He will blame the news media for being instruments of Satan, that Satan is trying to keep him from getting elected, and ....

It was bad enough when his business went under. I do not like to see small independent business go under but instead of being a adult and taking the blame for the bad decisions he made, he blames Satan and the news media.

Sorry Dell I hate to tell you but here is a small list of problems you had:
1. Too fast of an expansion
2. Too much expansion when your products catered to a limited market share
3. Commercials that turned off potential customers
4. Poor web presence

and that is just a few of them.

You are not Governor material, but how about the state legislature, after all, you will fit right in with the those clowns...

Governor's Race

Well the Republicans have found their sacrificial lamb to go to slaughter against Matheson in the second congressional district and now the Democrats have theirs to go slaughter and run against Huntsman for Governor.

It sounds as though Bob Springmeyer has already decided his going to loose from the the attitude as his news conference and quoted from the Deseret News:

"I probably would have more luck in winning the lottery" than this race, said a realistic Springmeyer. He ticked off Huntsman's advantages: "He is very popular. He's handsome. He can raise a lot of money. He has a billionaire daddy. And his wife (first lady Mary Kaye) is drop-dead gorgeous." Utah has not elected a Democratic governor since 1980.

The only thing that Springmeyer forgot that is Huntsman’s grown daughter who is also attractive.

The only thing I can see that could get into Huntsman’s way is the extremist from his own party.

I have to admit that I was wondering about Huntsman when he first took office. I thought that he was just going to be another rich guy political hack like his predecessor Mike Levitt but Huntsman has done pretty well except he was dead wrong when it came to funding the soccer stadium.

Heck, any governor of this state who has to deal with the state legislature every year and doesn’t go postal on those circus clowns deserves an Atta boy.

Overall, Springmeyer would have to do much better to sway my vote. Even though Huntsman spells his first name wrong (yes, that is a joke), I think unless something major happens I will be voting for him in the election.

Wal-Mart and Libertarians...

Le Wal-Mart de la rue Karl-Marx.

A few months ago I saw a review on epinions from a libertarian praising the virtues of how wonderful Wal-Mart is to shop in and that brought up a question to me.

Since the libertarians are supposed to be so free market and anti-government, is it hypocritical for them to be supporting a company that has been the recipient of more than a billion dollars of corporate welfare that can be traced and who knows how much that cannot be traced?

That doesn’t even count all the hidden subsidies like the new I-15 interchange for Springville that it would take decades for the sales tax revenue to compensate for?

When is the last time a small retailer such as the hundreds of small businesses that fight to survive and received no subsidies like that? Shouldn’t the libertarians be supporting stores such as this who do truly represent a market base economy compared to those who get corporate welfare?

Talk about a guy who should not be driving...

Inattentive driver hits cars at police station, flees

This could have the making of a great comedy...

A backing out of the Public Safety building is too busy talking on his cell phone and hits two parked cars including a police cruiser. Then he takes off but is later pulled over and claims it was his brakes fault so the police impound his vehicle for faulty equipment.

This whole thing brings up a question, what was this guy doing at the public safety building in the first place?
